Hanjin Shipping’s 12 dedicated terminals, located in important hub ports worldwide, handle about 6 million TEU annually.
Hanjin Shipping continues to invest in hub ports. After establishing the first dedicated terminal in Seattle in 1986, it expanded its facilities to Longbeach in 1991, Osaka in 1992, and Tokyo in 1994 step by step.
In 1998, a turning point for Hanjin Shipping’s terminal business, the dedicated terminals were established in Busan(Gamcheon, Gamman), Gwangyang in Korea, and Kaohsiung in Taiwan. After that time, Hanjin Shipping obtained a dedicated terminal in Oakland to handle increasing container traffic, and in 2002, it expanded Longbeach terminal to about 1.52 million square meters.
In 2005 and 2006, Pyeongtaek terminal and Antwerp terminal were opened in order. In Pyeongtaek, which is recognized as new hub for trade with China, the dedicated terminal was expanded to four berths in 2008. In 2009, Busan New Port Phase 2-1, operated by Hanjin Newport Co., opened introducing the world’s first horizontal yard operation system.
